There are a lot of treasured memories associated with this family homestead. The challenge was to transform the original house, which was dark and cramped by today’s standards, into a light and airy home for an active family. A new kitchen and family room were added to the first floor, allowing the small dining room to be expanded in the old section of the house. The new second floor includes a master suite and a new kids’ bath. A dormer became a doorway, creating a transition area linking the old with the new. The new roof is a modern version of the original style, and helps to bring some of the character of the old house into the new.
